Muhammad, 28, was speaking after his first pilgrimage trip to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad.
He said he has recently converted to Shia Islam after much research and contemplation. Muhammad is currently residing in the holy city of Qom to study the Shia teachings and sciences.
“My name is Muhammad. I’m 28. I was born in Libya. My father was a student there and started teaching at a university in Libya after graduation. It was until (former Libyan dictator)Muammar Kaddafi ordered the expulsion of Palestinians.”
He then elaborated on his life in Palestine, the Intifada of the Palestinian people, and the 33-day war between Hezbollah and the Zionist regime.
“At the time, I was a Sunni but we, the Palestinians, liked Hezbollah and its leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. But our fondness of Hezbollah was because of its resistance against Israel.”
Muhammad said that after a speech by Hezbollah leader in which Nasrallah talked about the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), he decided to learn more about the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
“The only way for me to get information was the internet and television because I had access to no informative books about the subject as a result of the Shiaphobia prevalent in the region.”
He said that after reading extensively about Shi’ism and the Ahl-ul-bayt (AS), he decided to embrace Shia Islam.
