Afghan Qari Comes 1st in Al-Kawsar Phone-in Quran Competition
A contestant from Afghanistan bagged the first prize in Al-Kawsar TV’s phone-in Quran competition.
Titled “Innal Mutaqqina Mufaza”, the competition was held on the satellite network during the holy month of Ramadan (July 10- August 9).
96 Qaris from 19 countries competed in the preliminarily, semi-final and final stages of the competition.
Five top Qaris made it to the final round where Kabir Qalandarzadeh from Afghanistan, Ali Shirzad from Iran, Javad Hassani from Afghanistan, Mohammad Jafari from Iran and Mustfa Al-Zein from Egypt came won the first to fifth ranks, respectively.
This was the sixth edition of the Quranci contest, which Al-Kawsar TV organized annually in Ramadan.
The top winners of the sixth edition received cash prizes ranging from 1000 to 5000 dollars.
