According to IQNA’s ICRO branch, the contest was held in cooperation with UBC TV Channel in Uganda with the participation of children aged 5 to 15, the youth of 15 to 18 and adults of 18 to 22 years old.
The opening ceremony of the contest was addressed by Amir Hussein Nikbin, Iranian ambassador to Uganda, who said that Quran is the sacred book and the common language of the world Muslims.
“If all Muslims base their reasoning and dialogues on the Holy Quran, they will benefit not only its local but international positive achievements”, he added.
Also speaking at the program, head of the TV channel, who is a Christian citizen, said that Muslims comprise a large part of the population in Uganda and hence Islamic programs, particularly on special occasions, are the priorities of the channel.
He expressed his willingness to boost media cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The contest was held under the supervision of Quran experts from Iran and Uganda.
