They say the group’s refusal to join the plan is tantamount to playing in the hand of the US, Al-Ahram daily reported.
These parties point to the US warning about a possible civil war starting in Egypt, saying that Muslim Brotherhood is working to intensify the crisis in Egypt with American support.
Ahmed Al-Durraj, a member of Al-Dastour Party said Muslim Brotherhood’s rejection of the plan and its call for demonstrations on August 28 were a clear challenge against the Egyptian government and the will of the nation.
He said the opposition to the plan indicated that the Muslim Brotherhood moves in line with the warnings by US senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham about civil war in Egypt. “It shows that the group is working to create challenges and intensify the crisis in the country with American support”.
Muhammad Mahna, an adviser to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, said the rejection of the plan would make the group responsible before God, the nation and history because inviting to peace is the motto of Islam and Muslims.
A host of other political figures have also criticized Muslim Brotherhood’s rejection of the national reconciliation plan.
