The bodies of 107 Iranian martyrs will be delivered to the Iranian officials at Shalamcheh border, an Iraqi official said.
Mahdi Al-Tamimi, a human rights ministry official in Basra province said the bodies will be delivered to Iran based on agreements signed between the two countries, Al-Alam news network reported.
The 107 Iranians had been killed during the Sacred Defense era (1980-1988 war between Iraq and Iran) in the Faw peninsula and Majnoun area in Basra province.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Sumeriya News that Iran will also deliver the bodies of 47 Iraqi soldiers found in different parts of Iran.
He said representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross will monitor the exchange of the bodies.
The Iraqi official added that many of the bodies have been identified.
Backed by Western powers, Iraq that ruled by the Ba’thist regime of Saddam Hussein invaded Iraq in September 1980, triggering an 8-year war.
