A Quran expert urged the Culture Ministry to pursue establishing a confederation of international Quran competitions.
Speaking to IQNA, Mahmoud Lotfinia said the idea can be implemented through the Orgqanziation of Islamic Cooperation.
Pointing to the vote of confidence given by the Majlis to new cabinet ministers, including culture minister, on Thursday, he urged the new culture minister to plan for enhancing unity in the Quranic community.
He said the minister has a heavy responsibility given the enemies’ moves to undermine the status of the Quran and Islam in the world and given the position of Iran as the center and driving engine of the Islamic Awakening movement.
Lotfinia said the culture ministry should further develop Quranic activities both in the country and abroad.
He underlined the need for continued activity of the Quran and Etrat deputy of the ministry and working more to promote the status of Quranic activities.
The Quranic expert also called for increase in the country’s Quranic budget in order to maintain the growing trend of Quranic programs.
He further underlined that the Holy Quran is the pivot of unity in the Muslim world and that Quranic activities create a potential for enhancement of unity and solidarity.
