Conversion to Islam Growing among Hispanic Americans
A new report says the number of conversions to Islam is growing among Spanish-speakers in the United States.
The BBC website reported that as well as the rising trend of embracing Islam in Europe, especially in Britain and France, there are many Hispanics in the US who leave Catholicism and convert to Islam.
While there are no official figures about the number of adherents to any religion in the US, Hispanic Muslims in the country are estimated to be between 100,000 to 200,000.
According to the report, Hispanic Americans are an influential minority in the US and played an important role in Obama’s victory in the recent presidential election.
It said that given the important role of Hispanic Americans in the US society, the country’s officials should need to pay more attention to the growing trend of their conversion to Islam.
