The second International Festival of Qadir is planned to be held in the holy city of Najaf, Iraq.
This was announced during a visit to Beirut by a delegation from the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Ali’s (AS) holy shrine.
Zuhair Sharba, the deputy head of the Astan, said the Astan will organize the second edition of the international festival concurrent with the Eid Al-Qadir.
Eid Al-Qadir, the 18th day of Dhul-Hajja on the lunar Hijri calendar, marks the anniversary of the day in the early years after the advent of Islam when the Holy Prophet (PBUH) introduced Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
Another member of the delegation was Ali Al-Khizri who said this year’s festival will be different from its previous editions as new programs such as poetry reading circles and a manuscripts exhibition will be included.
He noted that a book exhibition with the participation of Arab and Muslim world publishers will be among the main programs of the festival.
According to the member of the Astan’s administrative board, more than 100 scholars, thinkers and cultural figures from different countries have been invited to take part in the second International Festival of Qadir.
Al-Khizri added that the event will be a venue for intruding the great character of Imam Ali (AS) to the world.
