Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader urged Sunni scholars to find ways to foil the danger of Salafism.
Delivering his second sermon at the University of Tehran’s Campus on August 23, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani also highlighted the blessing of Valayat-e Faqih (leadership of the Supreme Jurist), saying that the Muslim world should benefit from this blessing.
He also discussed the current situation in the Muslim world, especially the events in Egypt and Syria.
Ayatollah Emami-Kashani also criticized the release of the criminal Pharaoh of Egypt (Hosni Mubarak) from prison.
He highlighted the danger of Salafism and the Takfiri current for the Muslim world, stressing that Muslim scholars should carry out Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and clarify the position of the Takfiris in the Islamic world.
Tehran’s interim Friday prayers leader said the Takfiris, who have questioned all Islamic schools of thought, could not have a place in Egypt despite all attempts by Ibn Taymiyyah and figures like Gamal Abdel Nasser stood up against them, but this deviated current grew later with support from the British.
He urged Sunni scholars to work out ways to confront the threat of Salafism and Takfiri currents in the Muslim world.
The senior cleric further referred to the inauguration of the new administration in Iran and wished success for the new government in resolving the problems.
Elsewhere in his sermon, Ayatollah Emami-Kashani extended condolences on the demise anniversary of great Shia scholar Hazrat Abdul-Azim Hassani and martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) uncle Hazrat Hamza.
