Participants in the 7th Francophone Muslims Conference in Senegal urged for establishment of French Islamic media.
Noting the different media outlets broadcasting programs in French lack a unified approach, they said there is a need for setting up Islamic media with a cohesive approach.
They underlined that Muslims living in Francophone countries are deprived of Islamic media because most of the media featuring Islamic programs broadcast their programs in English.
The participants said Francophone Muslims, especially those living in African countries lack access to up-to-date and credible news and information and need Islamic media.
The 7th Francophone Muslims Conference that began in the Senegalese capital of Dakar on August 23 will conclude on August 25.
The Francophone Muslims Society is organizing the event with the theme of “Role of Islamic Thought in Ethics, Governance and Peace”.
The previous editions of the international conference of Francophone Muslims were held in countries like Ivory Coast, Benin, Niger, Burkina Faso, Togo and Mali.
