New Islamic School to Open in Brussels

A new Islamic school will be opened in the beginning of the coming academic year in Schaerbeek region of Brussels, the capital city of Belgium.
According to rtbf website, the school which is called “La Verto” will be opened in late September in the region.
It is the third Islamic school after “La Plume” and “Al-Ghazali” schools respectively opened in Molenbeek and Etterbeek regions of the city.
Ministry of Education and Training in Belgium has expressed satisfaction over the activities and the highly observation of educational principles and regulations at the two Islamic schools previously established in Brussels and hence agreed to open the third Islamic school in the capital city.
150 students in pre-school and elementary levels will be registered for the new academic year at La Vertu.
Different sciences along with Islamic and Quranic values will be instructed at the school where Islamic culture and rituals will also be disseminated.
The practise of Islam in Belgium is relatively new, and is mostly observed in the Belgian immigrant communities. It is the largest minority religion in Belgium.
Muslims constitute 25.5% of the population of Brussels, 4.0% of Wallonia and 3.9% of Flanders. The majority of Belgian Muslims live in the major cities, such as Antwerp, Brussels and Charleroi.
