Fox News correspondent Leland Vittert reported from Jerusalem where says Israelis are “stunned.”
Vittert said, “There is a feeling here that President Assad, the Syrians and for that matter, the Iranians, were eye-to-eye with President Obama and the president is the one who blinked.”
He reported that people were partying in the streets of Damascus. The deputy prime minister of Syria went on a Pan-Arab satellite network and said, “The Americans have lost the battle before it even started” and that the American administration has made a “joke” of itself.
The Syrian government threatened massive retaliation and that Tel Aviv would burn if the United States attacked. Mideast analysts are using the decision to criticize President Obama for saying military action needs to be taken, and then waiting on Congress to decide. Vittert cited one analyst who said, “To the countries in the Middle East, he seems incapable of taking action.”
