Nat’l Quran Memorization Contest to Conclude in Yemen

The final stage of the second edition of Yemen’s national Quran memorization began on September 1 in Sana’a, the capital city.
According to Sabanet website, “Quran; Our Way, Origin of Our Dignity and Rule for Our life” is the motto of this edition of the contest.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the final stage, Hamud Abbas, the country’s Minister of Awqaf and Guidance, stressed the importance of organizing such competitions in encouraging the youth to memorize the Holy Quran, serving the Book of God and including the Quranic teachings in their lives.
Sheikh Hassan Abdullah Al-Sheikh, Quranic deputy of the Yemeni minister, also presented a speech at the program and clarified the role of specialized associations and groups in encouraging the children and teenagers to attend national and international Quran contests.
He noted that a memorizer of the Holy Quran should represent the best role-model in the society, avoid the issues which cause divisions among Muslims and try to realize the Quranic teachings in his/her life.
The final stage of the contest with categories for different age groups of participants is being supervised by a committee of eminent Quran reciters of the ministry.
The competition will conclude on September 5 and top participants will be awarded in the closing ceremony.
