Isfahan to Host Int’l Congress of Imamzadehs

Head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said that the city of Isfahan will host the first international congress of Imamzadehs (immediate descendant of Shia Imams).
Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, September 8, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi said it would be held on September 10-11, concurrent with the national day of commemorating Imamzadehs.
He said the organization has planned the congress with the aim of introducing the status and importance of Imamzadehs, their blessings for the Muslim world and their special position in Islamic culture and civilization.
He said some of the themes of the international event include the political role of Imamzadehs and their uprisings in Iran, the social role of Imamzadehs in enhancing Islamic unity, promotion of the culture of pilgrimage, and role of Imamzadehs in development of Islamic arts.
According to the head of Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, over 600 papers were submitted to the secretariat of the congress 436 of which were sent to the assessment stage and the top ones will be presented in the congress.
He added that scholars from 9 countries such as Britain, Uzbekistan, Australia, Turkey, and Afghanistan will be attending the congress.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi underlined that the shrines of Imamzadehs always have a spiritual atmosphere and that the sanctity and holiness of these shrines should be protected and promoted.
