Training Course for Imams of Mosques in Uzbekistan

The 24th edition of an educational course for imams of mosques and preachers in Uzbekistan is underway in Samarkand.
According to IQNA’s branch in Central Asia, the course is being hosted by Imam Al-Bukhari International Center from September 3.
The opening ceremony of the course was held with the participation of Othman Khan Alimov, Grand Mufti and head of the Office for Uzbek Muslims’ Affairs.
Artiq Beik Yusufov, head of the Committee for Religious Affairs and Council of Ministers and Mohammad Nazar Qayyumov, director of Mosques Affairs affiliated to the religious office were also present.
Responsibilities and the main objectives of mosques and the imams, custodians and preachers were discussed at the program.
Over 70 Uzbek imams of mosque and preachers have participated in the course which will conclude on November 3.
On the occasion of the 1225th anniversary of Imam al-Bukhari, according to the decision of the government of Uzbekistan, a new memorial complex was built in 1998 on the location of the old mausoleum in Samarkand. The modern memorial complex consists of a mausoleum, mosque, office building and other structures around the courtyard.
