Supreme Leader Hoping US Serious in New Approach toward Syria
Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei hoped that the new US approach toward Syria is serious and not a political game.
Speaking in a meeting with the country’s Hajj officials, Imam Khamenei said that if Washington is serious, it means it has abandoned its unilateral and wrong position in the past few weeks.
His Eminence underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran is monitoring the developments in the region carefully and vigilantly.
Imam Khamenei referred to the recent threats by the US against Syria, saying that the domineering powers, especially the US, are willing to wage war and trample on the rights of other nations to serve their so-called national interests, which are actually the interests of the Zionists and big capitalists.
The Supreme Leader further regarded the Hajj as the source of political, cultural and spiritual power for the Islamic society, saying that one of the requirements for a real Hajj pilgrimage is Muslims’ brotherly conduct in this great Islamic ritual.
His Eminence criticized some wrong interpretations of the Quran’s emphasis on avoiding disputes during Hajj, saying that some are trying to use this as a pretext for questioning the ritual of Bara’at from Mushrikin (disavowal of disbelievers), whereas Jidal with Shirk and Kufr is among Islam’s main principles.
Imam Khamenei urged Muslims to remain vigilant against attempts by ill-wishers to foment discord and sectarian clashes among Muslims, saying that the enemies of Islam have realized well that clashes among Islamic sects is in the interest of the Zionist regime.
His Eminence noted that great Shia figures including imam Khomeini (RA) have always underscored the need for upholding Islamic unity, adding that those Shia Muslims who set up media in London and the US to spread religious discord are not moving in line with real Shi’ism.
Prior to the Supreme Leader’s statements, head of Iranian Hajj mission Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Qazi-Asgar presented a report about activities carried out and planned for Hajj, including the compilation of the strategic charter of Hajj, and holding specialized Hajj conferences.
Culture Minister Ali Jannati and Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Mr. Owhadi also addressed the meeting.
