Hojat-ol-Islam Mehdi Shahsavari, director general of Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization’s public relations department, told IQNA that a number of officials will be at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport early morning on Saturday to see off the Hajjis.
They include Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Ali Qazi-Asgar, Supreme Leader’s Representative in Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, and Saeed Ohadi, Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization.
The flight of the first batch of Hajjis will leave the airport at 2 o’clock in the morning, he said.
Some 64,000 Iranian Hajjis will go on Hajj pilgrimage this year. They will go to Saudi Arabia in 500 batches.
Hajj is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. It is obligatory for this pilgrimage to be carried out by every able bodied Muslim at least once in their lifetime if they can afford to do so.
