Participants in the sit-in, which was organized by the popular commission for the defense of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy sites in the Engineers Syndicate, condemned "the continued Israeli violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Deputy head of the Jordanian Engineers syndicate Majid Tabbaa said: "The vigil came to express condemnation of the abuses against Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city," and pointed out that the developments in the Arab world and the state of silence encouraged Israel to escalate its attacks
He called on the Jordanian official bodies to end the state of silence and "take a firm position" vis-à-vis the abuses and violations in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Tabbaa also demanded expelling the Israeli ambassador from Amman, and recalling the Jordanian ambassador from Tel Aviv.
For its part, the Jordanian Islamic Action Front Party stressed in a statement on Saturday that the negotiations conducted by the Palestinian Authority were futile.
The party said that the 20 years that have passed since the Oslo agreement confirmed the futility of the negotiations that resulted in more Israeli criminal aggressions against holy sites, land and people.
It said, "The protection of the Aqsa Mosque, which is subjected to a series of systematic attacks, is the responsibility of all Muslims, Arabs and Palestinians, while the Jordanian government bears a special responsibility in this regard."
