The awarding ceremony was held at the Central Hall in Russia’s capital on Sunday, September 15, Rusiya Al-Yaum website reported.
Yasin Al-Humawi came first in the international Quranic competition held in the category of Quran memorization.
Quran memorizers from 36 Arab, Muslim and European countries took part in Moscow’s 14th Quran contest.
Indonesia, Britain, Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, Chad, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and the Islamic Republic of Iran were among the participating countries.
The competition was organized by Russia’s ministries of culture and foreign affairs and supervised by the country’s Council of Muftis.
Russia is a Christian country where the majority of the populations adhere to Orthodox Christianity. Russia has a Muslim population of over 20 million.
