Bahrainis Protest against banishment of Shia Cleric
People in Bahrain held a rally in protest to the decision by Al-e Khalifa regime to send a Shia cleric to exile.
The rally was held yesterday in the capital Manama, the Bahraini daily Al-Wasat reported.
The ruling regime is planning to send Ayatollah Hussein Nejati, who is a prominent Shia cleric, to exile.
Attempts by the police and security forces backed by Saudi troops to disperse the protesters led to violence. The security forces used tear gas to end the rally.
The regime has recently revoked the citizenship of Ayatollah Hussein Nejati, who is the representative of grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani in Bahrain.
There are 31 other Bahraini activists whose citizenship has been revoked by the regime recently.
