Hajj, Opportunity to Promote Pure Islamic Teachings
A prominent Iranian Quran recite said the annual Hajj pilgrimage is a good opportunity for promoting pure Muhammadan Islam.
Speaking to IQNA, Majid Zakilu added that Hajj is the greatest congress in the Muslim world where Muslims from all over the world come together and that provides an opportunity to introduce the image of pure Muhammadan Islam which was revived in Iran following the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
He said Iran’s Noor (light) Convoy to Hajj can inform Muslims from other countries of the world who are not familiar with the Quranic activities in Ian.
The Quran teacher who has made numerous trips as a Quran reciter to different countries said, “In the early years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, when we travelled to some Muslim countries people there did not even know that Iranians are Muslims. But thanks to the Noor Convoys and sending Quran reciters to Islamic countries, Muslims are now more informed about Iran.”
Zakilu recalled that in 1988 in a trip to the African country of Niger, he was invited to the grand mosque in the capital to recite the Quran in the presence of the country’s officials.
“It was the night of birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and there was a celebration held in the mosque. I had a copy of the Quran with me and when I started reciting, the prayers leader of the mosque took the podium and said he did not consider Iranians as Muslims, asking if I was a Muslim why I had brought my own copy of the Quran. You know, they believed (as a result of anti-Shia propaganda) that our Quran had 40 Juzes. So they brought another copy of the Quran and I recited from it (and everyone learned that our Quran is the same as other Muslims).”
Zakilu noted that the incident caused the Niger officials to ask for expanding ties with Iran.
He stated that the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been spreading propaganda against the country and, therefore, there is a need to foil this propaganda by showing the reality.
He said nothing has more power to show the rightfulness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Muslim world than the Holy Quran and so dispatching the Noor Convoy would be very helpful in this regard.
