Tehran’s substitute Friday prayers leader said the White House showed insincerity by saying that the military option against Iran is still on the table.
Addressing worshippers at Tehran University Campus on Friday, October 4, Hojat-ol-Islam Kazem Sediqi he rejected Washington’s claim that Iran was ready to go to the negotiation table because of the sanctions.
“If it was that way, the Iranian nation would have retreated from its stances in the previous and harsher sanctions.”
He said the Iranin nation hates killing and bloodshed, adding “We are not seeking nuclear weapons and believe that these weapons must be eliminated. But we insist on out right to nuclear technology and will not retreat from our rights.”
Hojat-ol-Islam Sediqi underlined that the West is more in need of the removal of sanctions than Iran and that negotiations and political maneuvers are a tactic for the two sides to have a more realistic approach.
He said today’s war is one of diplomacy and wills, hoping that the region and the world will soon get out of the current stalemate.
He praised President Rouhani’s activities and speeches in New York and his address to the UN General Assembly, saying that during this trip, the president conveyed the message of the Iranian nation to the world, condemned the unjust sanctions, reiterated support for the causes of Palestine and talked about the Syrian issue as he should.
The interim Friday prayers leader of Tehran stressed that Islam is a religion of peace and the teachings of the Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) urge for peaceful interaction.
Elsewhere in his sermon, Hojat-ol-Islam Sediqi referred to the National Police Week and praised the Police Force for their efforts to ensure security and fight crimes.
In his UN speech on September 24, President Rouhani criticized the sanctions against Iran as “unfair,” “cruel” and against human rights, which have affected the Iranian nation. He also stated that Iran poses no threat to the world and Tehran is ready for talks on its nuclear energy program with complete transparency.
The United States, Zionist regime and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and European Union using the claim as an excuse to impose illegal sanctions against Tehran.
Tehran has categorically rejected the allegation, arguing that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
