It was organized in Islamabad by the Iranian Cultural Center in cooperation with the Muslim Research Institute, IQNA’s West Asia branch reported.
Addressing the conference, director of the Muslim Research Institute Sultan Ahmed Ali said the institute had been founded with the purpose of analyzing and finding ways to resolve challenges facing the Muslim world.
He said that after Afghanistan and Iraq, countries like Syria and Egypt are facing crises and that if these crises are not resolved soon their consequences might spread to Pakistan.
Sultan Ahmed Ali also said that the conflict in Syria is a sectarian one which should end as soon as possible.
Middle East expert Sa’adollah Zarei also addressed the event, saying that the Syrian government is a legitimate government that has the right to defend the country’s national interests and its policy and security against foreign and internal enemies.
He said the Syrian government is defending the country and its people against the invasion of terrorist groups.
Zarei added that the tensions and conflicts in Muslim countries like Syria, Yemen, Egypt and Iraq are rooted in the conspiracies of the West and Zionists.
He urged that a group of Muslim world elites, academicians and seminary scholars should be formed to work for upholding unity among Muslims.
