Translations of the Quran into different languages should be comprehensive easy to understand and based on the needs of the day.
Translator of the Quran and Nahj-ul-Balaqa Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Kazem Arfa made the remark in an interview with IQNA, urging that various renderings of the Holy Book should be published.
He stressed that the easier to understand a rendering of the Quran, the more people get attracted to the concepts of the Holy Book.
Hojat-ol-Islam Arfa also rejected the idea of publishing translations of the Quran without the original Arabic text, saying that any rendering of the Holy Scripture should be published along with the original text.
He said the trend of Quran translation into Persian in the past three decades has been a good one and good renderings of the Holy Book have been published in different styles.
The cleric urged that as well as new translations, new interpretations of the Quran should also be presented every few years.
