Religious Scholars Should Do More to Curb Extremism

Supreme Leader’s representative in Muslim world affairs urged that religious scholars should do more to curb radicalism and extremism.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri made the remark during a meeting with Sri Lanka’s archbishop, adding that if extremism is controlled, many of the world’s challenges will be resolved.
The senior cleric visited Sri Lanka on Sunday representing the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization. He also underlined the significance of dialogue among faiths and cultures in order to move toward peace, tranquility, justice and friendship.
Ayatollah Taskhiri noted that the new Iranian administration has announced it would take steps toward peace and friendship with a policy of judiciousness and moderation.
The Sri Lankan bishop for his part urged for dialogue among religions and expressed opposition to extremism.
