Hajj Pilgrims Begin Returning Home
After completing the Hajj rites, prilgrims started returning to their home countries on Thursday, October 17.
Some 1.4 million Muslim Hajjis from different countries went to Saudi Arabia this year to perform Hajj, Almal daily reported.
The first group of Hajjis left the Holy Land for their home country on Thursday after having performed the last rites of Hajj including Ramy Jamarat (casting pebbles to the stone walls representing the devil).
As well as the 1.4 million foreign pilgrims, more than half a million Saudi Hajjis performed Hajj this year.
Saudi authorities said they had deployed 100,000 security personnel in this year’s Hajj to ensure security and safety of the pilgrims.
The Hajj is the largest annual pilgrimage in the world. It is obligatory for this pilgrimage to be carried out by every able bodied Muslim at least once in their lifetime if they can afford to do so.
