Imam Khamenei Grants Clemency to 1241 Prisoners
On the occasion of the Eids of Al-Adha and Qadir, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khamenei agreed to a request to grant clemency to hundreds of prisoners.
The request had been forwarded by the Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, the office of the Supreme Leader said.
A total of 1241 inmates were given amnesty or had their jail terms reduced on the auspicious occasions.
They had been convicted in general and revolutionary courts, State Discretionary Punishments Organization, and the Armed Forces’ Judicial Organization.
Ayatollah Amoli-Larijani in a letter requested pardon for the inmates after they were found eligible for clemency by the Judiciary’s Central Clemency Commission.
