The Tarteel style of Quran recitation was revived by Sheikh Khalil Al-Misri and Minshawi and was brought to maturity by Master Parhizgar.
This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Reza Mohammadi Parchavi, Quran recitation and memorization expert, while speaking to IQNA about recitations by great Qaris.
He said Master Parhizgar’s Tarteel recitation has been very influential especially among Quran memorizers and that 30 years after Master Parhizgar recorded Tarteel recitation of the entire Quran, it is still very popular.
Hojat-ol-Islam Parchavi noted that there are few Quran memorizers in the country who might not be familiar with Master Parhigzar’s Tarteel recitation style.
He said Master Parhigzar’s Tarteel recitation is also popular in other countries, stating that Kuwait’s radio broadcast the full recitation of the Quran by the master last Ramadan.
Head of the Strategic Education Center at the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization further pointed to the techniques used by Master Parhizgar in his recitations, saying that the master has benefited from the seven main Maghams (modes) in recitation.
Hojat-ol-Islam Parchavi further referred to the recitation of some verses like verse 145 of Surah Al-An’am, verse 102 of Surah Al-Maeda, and verse 80 of Surah Nisa, saying that the way Master Parhizgar recited these verses very well shows his mastery over Tarteel recitation.
Master Parhizgar was born in August 1964 in Tehran. He learned the entire Quran in 3 years and after that participated in many Quran competitions and achieved excellent ratings internationally. He then started recitation of the Quran and developed the Tarteel style.
