Security Beefed up in Najaf on Eve of Eid Al-Qadir
The governor general’s office in Najaf, Iraq, said especial security measures have been put in place in the city ahead of the Eid Al-Qadir.
It said more than 1000 troops have been deployed as part of Eid Al-Qadir Special Program to ensure security in the holy city of Najaf, Noon website reported.
Khalid Al-Jashami said the plan has been prepared by the police force and the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Command.
He said more than 33000 defense ministry and interior ministry staff will cooperate in the society operation.
Al-Jashami added that the special security measures are aimed at ensuring security for the pilgrims (of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS)).
Eid Al-Qadir, which is celebrated by Muslims on the 18th day of Dhul Hajj, marks the anniversary of the day on which the Holy Prophet (PBUH), commanded by God, announced Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
