The survey, conducted by the French polling institute, Ipsos, and published on October 11, revealed that 63 percent of Germans, 59 percent of French and 57 percent of the British respondents believe that racial discrimination against Muslims has been on the rise in their countries during the past 20 years.
The poll questioned 3,200 adults face-to-face from September 23-26, 2013.
About 12 percent of British people, 10 percent of French and 9 percent of Germans said discrimination had decreased in their countries.
When asked which ethnicities -- black people, Muslims, Jewish people and Asians -- are subject to further discrimination, the respondents said Muslims have been the main victims of racism in France and the UK, while Asians faced the lowest level of racial discrimination in the three countries.
The rise of Islamophobia in Europe and the US has increased and many political parties and governments in Europe have adopted opposing stances against the Muslim community.
The London-based human rights group Amnesty International has criticized politicians for their lack of action on the growth of Islamophobia in Europe.
Amnesty called on European governments to clear the negative stereotypes and prejudices against Islam, adding “rather than countering these prejudices, political parties and public officials are all too often pandering to them in their quest for votes.”
