Legislation on Halal Items Urged

Pakistan’s parliament must approve legislation on Halal products’ certification and their standardization, said a trade association.
In a statement, the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) said the government must assist the schools of thoughts engaged in carrying out research and awareness about Halal products.
A four-member delegation from Thailand’s Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University met with KCCI members on Saturday.
President KCCI A. Abdullah Zaki, Senior Vice President KCCI Muffasar A. Malik, Vice President KCCI Muhammad Idrees, Abdul Jabbar Dalal and other members of the managing committee were also present at the meeting.
The Thai delegation comprised of Banchong Withayametha, deputy director of HSCCU, Tanpong Wongboongird, planning and policy officer of HSCCU, and others.
The delegation visited Pakistan under a memorandum of understanding signed between Halaal Foundation Pakistan and the Halal Science Food Center Chulalongkorn University in Thailand.
