Secretary General of Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement described the case of Imam Musa Sadr as a national issue.
In a televised address on Monday, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah urged the Lebanese judiciary to vigorously pursue the case of Imam Musa Sadr.
Sadr and his two companions disappeared during a trip to Libya in 1978 and despite the overthrow of the former dictator Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011, the fate of the three still remains unknown.
Nasrallah stressed that the Sadr’s case is of paramount importance and that messages have also been sent to Iran to pursue the case.
He said (former Libyan spy chief) Abdullah Al-Senussi, who is now in a Libyan jail, and Mussa Koussa who is now touring Arab countries are both aware of the whereabouts of Imam Musa Sadr.
He considered the case of Imam Musa Sadr as a humanitarian issue and called on Lebanon’s judiciary to pursue the case.
Hezbollah leader also urged for the resolution of other cases including the abduction of four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon by the Israeli regime three decades ago.
He said a serious and clear framework should be designed to determine the fate of the abductees.
Elsewhere in his speech, Nasrallah referred to the Syrian crisis, saying that Saudi Arabia is unhappy that its objectives in Syria have not been realized.
“The front that sought the overthrow of the Syrian establishment did everything (to achieve that purpose) but failed and, therefore, is angry and tries to impede any political solution for Syria.”
He said Saudi Arabia has sent thousands of militants from around the world to Syria and has so far spent $30 billion to topple the Syrian government. “It (Riyadh) does not want to see the resolution of the Syrian crisis through dialogue”.
Nasrallah stressed that Lebanon and all other regional nations affected by the crisis in Syria should be seeking a political solution to the crisis.
“Dialogue is an opportunity that should be seized, otherwise the political future will not be in your interest” he stated.
“The world has come to realize the Syrian crisis has no military solution and that the only solution is a political one through unconditional dialogue.”
Hezbollah secretary general also noted that political solutions for Syria require international, regional and international support to succeed.
He also pointed to the recent clashes in the Lebanese city of Tripoli and said maintain the city’s security should be given to the Lebanese army.
