According to the Syria Human Rights Watchdog, terrorist elements belonging to the Ahrar Al-Sham and “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” militant groups kidnapped the member of parliament in Deir Al-Zur region, lorientlejour website reported.
They attacked the region and started fighting with members of the Bu Saraya tribe that supports the Syrian government.
The terrorists then abducted lawmaker Muhammad Faisal Fayyadh. There are no reports on where the MP was taken after the abduction.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies, especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and a total of 7.8 million others displaced due to the violence.
