Addressing the conference in Qom on Monday, Abdul Majid al-Houthi said such a secretariat would be needed to draw up effective strategies for combating Takfiri groups on ideological, cultural, political and military fronts.
He noted that Takfiri groups, which are supported by the United States, have distorted the image of Islam and serve the interests of the hegemonic powers.
Elsewhere in his remarks, al-Houthi noted that Yemenis have defeated Takfiris in their country and have a good experience of how to combat these groups.
The World Conference on Extremist and Takfiri Movements in Islamic Scholars’ View was held in Iran’s central holy city of Qom on Sunday and Monday, November 23-24.
