Hamid Saber Farzam added that it will pave the way for holding the future editions of the competition in other countries.
He further referred to the preparations for the 5th edition of the international Quranic event and said it will be held at Tehran’s Milad Tower on January 1-5, 2015.
He noted that the organizers have attached more importance to higher quality than the number of participating countries this year.
Hence, Saber Farzam said, while 77 countries have voiced readiness to send Quran reciters and memorizers to the competition, representatives of only 49 countries-those who have managed to pass the initial tests- will take part in the Quranic event.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Saber Farzam said the competition is, among other things, aimed at familiarizing students and academics from other Muslim countries with the accomplishments of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He went on to say that two conferences are planned to be held on the sidelines of the competition.
They will, respectively, feature methodology of interdisciplinary Quranic studies, and Islamic unity in view of the Holy Quran, he stated.
