TEHRAN (IQNA) – A veteran Iranian Quran master said the quality of 5th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students was higher than previous editions’.

Abdol Rasoul Abaei told IQNA that the participants, especially in the category of memorization, were very good and many of them scored 90 out of 100 in the preliminary round.
He noted, however, that some of the contenders in the recitation category were not good enough especially in terms of the knowledge of Waqf and Ibtida (pause and resumption while recitation of the Quran).
Abaei suggested that special courses be held for participants in such contests in order to enhance their Quran recitation skills.
The Iranian Quran master also lauded the good judgments of the competition’s jury panel.
The 5th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students was held in Tehran on January 1-4.
66 Quran reciters and memorizers from 47 countries took part in the 4-day Quranic event, which is organized biennially by the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Activities Organization.
