TEHRAN (IQNA) - A new mosque and Islamic center called Dar-ul-Anwar was opened in a ceremony on January 24 in the city of Rrogozhine, Albania.

According to IINA, the ceremony was attended by deputy of the leader of Albanian Muslim Sheikhs, Mufti of the region, representative of Turkish ambassador to Albania and director general of the Albanian Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization.

The program began with Quran recitation and continued with a speech delivered by the Mufti of Kavaje city.
He hailed the construction of the mosque and thanked the charitable figures and those who contributed to the project.
The deputy of Albanian Muslim leaders also addressed the ceremony and stressed the role of mosques in creating a healthy Muslim society.
Dr. Ramiz Zekaj, director general of the Albanian institute, for his part referred to the violations of Muslims’ rights in Albania in the past and said that during the second half of the previous century, the communist regime ruined mosques and banned Muslims from holding congregational prayers in the country.
Given that the previous mosque in Rrogozhine city was completely ruined, the construction of the new mosque was a necessity for Muslims of the region, he added.
