TEHRAN (IQNA) - A Quran competition titled “Rattil” (recite slowly and distinctly) was held in Al-Khobar city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi News Agency, the competition was organized earlier this week by Quran Memorization Charity Association in Saudi Arabia’s Al-Sharqiya region in cooperation with Al-Khobar Co-operative Office for Call and Guidance.

Tarteel recitation and memorization of the Holy Quran’s verses were the categories of the competition.

Those who were interested to participate at the competition sent an audio file of their Tarteel recitation of the Holy Quran through WhatsApp and the jury panel evaluated the recitations.

The top reciters selected by the judges competed in the final stage of the competition hosted by Al-Khobar city’s Dissemination Center of the Youth.

Sheikh Sami bin Ahmad Al-Mubayiz, deputy of the association and general supervisor of the competition, said that the objective of the Quranic event was to identify top Quran activists of the region and develop their Quranic skills.

Encouraging Muslim teenagers and the youth to memorize and recite the Quranic verses was also an objective of the competition.

Students of different school levels, university students and academic figures participated at the competition.

Winners of the competition will be awarded 50000 Saudi Rials by Al-Khobar Co-operative Office for Call and Guidance.
