TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday expressed condolences to the families of the three Muslim students who were killed in the US state of North Carolina earlier this week.

In his message, the Iranian chief executive described the brutal killings as a manifestation of how serious the threat of growing violence and extremism is today.
He also referred to early reports that point to Islamophobia as the motivation behind the murders and described it as very worrying.
“Violence and aggression against life and human dignity either in the name of religion or in attacking a religion run counter to the most fundamental principles of morality and teachings of Divine religions,” he underscored.
Rouhani added that those who sow the seeds of Islamophobia and hatred against religions will reap violence in society.
He went on to say that time has come for a global movement against violence and the cultural roots of hate crimes and anti-religious attempts.
The killing of three young American Muslims on Tuesday February 10 provoked widespread reaction by both Muslims and non-Muslims inside and outside the US.
Deah Shaddy Barakat, 23, a University of North Carolina dental student, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21, and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19, a student at North Carolina State University, were killed in a condominium about three kilometers from the University of North Carolina campus.
