TEHRAN (IQNA) – A senior Lebanese Sunni scholar has criticized the spread of Shiaphobia in Arab countries.

Speaking to Al-Mayadin TV network, Sheikh Maher Hamoud, secretary general of the Union of Resistance Ulima, described the growth of the trend as a big mistake.
He noted that Shias have made great contributions to the issue of resistance and support for Palestine in the past three decades but some Sunni scholars turn a blind eye to this and do not consider Hezbollah’s victories as Muslim victory.
The Lebanese cleric also described the achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding Palestine and Lebanon as undeniable.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Sheikh Hamoud referred to the threat of Takfiri groups and said none of senior Muslim scholars have approved of Takfiri groups like ISIL, which demonstrates that Takfiris’ claims are unfounded.
He added that the spy agencies of the West and some Arab countries provide arms and training to Takfiris as a plot against the axis of resistance.
