Time Has Come to Correct Misconceptions about Islam: Arab League Official
Badr Eddin Al-Alali made the remark Saturday in an international conference on moderation held in Amman, Jordan.
He also called for revival of religious tolerance and spread of peace, kindness and religious harmony through dialogue.
The conference on “Role of Moderation in Confronting Terrorism and Realization of Global Stability and Peace” is being held by the International Moderation Society.
Some 150 personalities from different countries are attending the two-day conference.
It is aimed at clarifying the role of thinkers, scholars and education institutions in strengthening moderation.
Another speaker at the event was Lebanese scholar Sayyed Ali Fadhlallah who said elimination of terrorism is only possible when scholars and thinkers make concerted efforts against the phenomenon.
He also reiterated that moderation is the essence of Islamic ethics, Sharia and beliefs.
