TEHRAN (IQNA) – The number of Palestinian MPs who are detained at the Zionist regime’s jails have risen to 16, in addition to two former minsters, after the occupation regime’s forces kidnapped, on Thursday, the Palestinian MP Khalida Jarrar, who is also a senior official of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

The number was announced by the Director of the Department of Statistics at the Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-detainees Abdul Nasser Farawaneh, PIC reported.

The Israeli Occupation Authority (IOA) detains Palestinian MPs to confuse the work of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC), which is already disabled, and to pressure Hamas, which enjoys majority in the PLC.

Hamas has condemned the kidnapping of MP Jarrar and slammed the Palestinian Authority including its Security Forces for its failure to do anything in this regard.

Hamas official Salah al-Bardawil described the arrest of MP Jarrar is a crime and warned of its consequences.

“This crime is in line with the policy of attacking the PLC members which had already targeted dozens of Hamas deputies including PLC Speaker Dr. Aziz Dweik and PLC Secretary Mahmoud al-Ramahi as well as PFLP Secretary General Ahmad Saadat and Fatah Leader MP Marwan al-Barghouthi.”

Other Palestinian factions including Islamic Jihad and PFLP condemned the arrest of MP Jarrar. They opined that the arrest of MPs is an Israeli desperate attempt to hamper their patriotic role in defending the Palestinian people and exposing the Israeli crimes.
