Egypt's Int’l Quran Competition to Be Held in April

TEHRAN (IQNA) - The 22nd edition of the international Quran competition of Egypt will be organized from April 18 to 22 by the country’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs.


According to almasryalyoum website, the ministry has announced that the competition will be held in Cairo under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi.

Ahmad Fadhil Ya’qub, Egypt’s ambassador to Mauritania, said that Mauritania will take part in this edition of the competition with two representatives.

A Mauritanian Quran expert will also be a member of the judging board of the Quran competition.

He added that Mauritanian Quran memorizers have successfully represented their country at international Quran competitions and won top ranks.

The Nasr District of Cairo, Egypt’s capital city, hosted the 21st edition of the competition in April 2014.

 Quran reciters and memorizers from 71 countries participated in the Quranic event last year.
