Quran Offers Lessons in Biodiversity: University Chancellor

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Chancellor of Nadva Islamic University in India stressed the urgent need for saving the biodiversity for the welfare of the humanity.

Speaking at a seminar on Biodiversity and Islam, organized by Urdu Scientific Society in the city of Lucknow on Monday Maulana Rabey Nadvi cited several Quranic verses and Prophetic Hadiths for proper and judicial use of God's gifts in the form of plants and animals and also for maintaining a balance among the diverse living beings and plant life on earth, the Times of India reported.
He underlined that the Noble Quran offers lessons in biodiversity.
He also released a book titled "Indian Plants of Commercial Value ", which describes more than 500 plant and plant products of Indian origin with short description of their nomenclature in different world languages, chemical composition and commercial uses.
