Int’l Quran Competitions Aim to Promote Muslim Unity

TEHRAN (IQNA) - Head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Iranian Organization of Awqaf and Charity Affairs stressed that the main objective of the international Quran competitions in Iran is to develop unity in the Muslim world.


Speaking at a press conference in Tehran focusing on the 32nd edition of the Islamic Republic of Iran's International Quran Competition, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mustafa Hosseini said that as a cultural-scholarly event, the competitions will result in dissemination of religious principles.





“We benefit from the blessings of the Holy Quran in order to enhance interaction with the world,” he said and noted that it is the great responsibility of media and news agencies to cover the news of the event.





Hosseini added that the Quran competitions have many unknown aspects which can be revealed and manifested by the media.





He noted that the principles and policies of the international Quran competitions are set by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.



Elsewhere, he said that the number of Quran memorizers in the country has increased since the victory of the Islamic Revolution and there are thousands of Quran memorizers in Iran today.





The Supreme Leader’s guidelines on spreading Quran memorization focus on getting close to the Divine Book, which is necessary for contemplating the Quranic meanings and acting upon Quranic teachings, the official said.



He further described the international Quran competition as an opportunity to disseminate unity among Muslims.





Several programs, including an exhibition, have been planned on the sidelines of the competition, Hojat-ol-Islam Hosseini went on to say .



Iran’s 32nd international Quran competition will be held by the Organization of Awqaf and Endowments from May 15 to 22 in Tehran.
