Pakistan Religious Scholars Back Govt for Introducing Uniform Prayer Timings

TEHRAN (IQNA) - Religious scholars in Pakistan assured the government of their all-out support in its efforts for promoting religious harmony and following a uniform prayer timings in country.

Over 2000 Ulema from all schools of thought held out the assurance at a Convention on Nizam-e-Salat which was organized by Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony at Convention Centre, Pakistan Observer reported.

They lauded the efforts of the government in further promoting the religious harmony and said these steps would bring about positive results besides grooming a healthy society.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said that after implementation in Federal Capital, the uniform prayers timings would also be implemented across the country with the cooperation of Members Ulema Committee.

The Minister said the Religious Ministry has published a special prayer calendar, which has been sent to the mosques, adding it was aimed at promoting unity, discipline and harmony in the nation.

He pointed out that schools, universities, government organizations and business entities would also follow the same prayer timings.

Sardar Yousaf said that the Holy Quran and Sunnah provided a complete code of life for the humanity. He asked Muslims to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran and life of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) to ensure success in this world and Hereafter.

He urged for establishment of Quran Complex besides formation of Islamic Education Commission for seminaries on the lines of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

Speaking on the occasion, State Minister for Religious Affairs, Pir Ameen ul Hasnat said that implementation of uniform prayer timings was the need of hour.
