More than 3000 male and female Quran memorizers have participated in the preliminary stage of this edition of the competition.
The Quranic event began in a ceremony attended by the secretary general of the Ministry of Relations with the Parliament and Civil Society, Muhammad Mahmoud Walad, secretary general of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Basic Education and Walad Muhammadov, secretary general of Mauritania’s Supreme Council for Fatwa and Grievances.
Walad said that organization of Quran competitions in this country shows that the Mauritanian government pays attention to the dissemination of religious sciences and Islamic teachings and virtues in the society.
From among the participants in the preliminary stage, 63 will make it to the final stage, which will be held in the holy month of Ramadan.
