Iran’s Sharifizadeh Wins 2nd Rank in Bangladesh Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Amir Hossein Sharifizadeh from Iran came second in the international Quran memorization competition in Bangladesh.


The 15-year-old memorizer of the Quran competed in the Under-16 category of the contest, the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.



 



The international Quranic event was held in the South Asian country’s capital of Dhaka for 12 days.



 



A number of Bangladeshi Quran experts adjudicated at the competition, which was organized by several TV networks in cooperation with Quranic institutes.



 



Some 1000 memorizers had registered to take part in the contest, out of whom 400 were admitted.



 



Following two preliminary rounds in different parts of Bangladesh, 20 contenders made it to the final stage, which was held in Dhaka.



 



A number of Bangladeshi officials and envoys from Islamic countries attended the closing ceremony in which the top participants received their awards.



 



Winners of the top three ranks were awarded cash prizes of 1200, 1000 and 600 dollars, respectively.
