TEHRAN (IQNA) – Mercenary forces affiliated to the Al Khalifa regime in Bahrain stormed a mosque in the capital Manama on Tuesday.

According to the Manama Post, they tried to break into the Imam Hussein (AS) Mosque by breaking the door but failed after facing resistance from worshippers inside the mosque.

The February 14 Coalition, a Bahraini opposition group, in a statement condemned the assault, saying the Al Khalifa and Al Saud regime are to blame for such attacks for allowing Takfiris and hate-mongers to spread anti-Shia propaganda.

Dozens of mosques have been demolished by the regime in Bahrain since the start of anti-monarchy rallies in 2011.

Almost daily protests have been held against the Al Khalifa regime since February 2011, when thousands of pro-democracy protesters took to the streets, calling for the royal family to leave power.

On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates invaded the country to assist the Bahraini government in its crackdown on peaceful protesters.
