The Written Section of the Expo hosted the event on Friday night, July 3.
Speaking at the forum, Majid Daneshgar, a professor of religious studies at the University of Otago, New Zealand, said the Malay language is mainly spoken in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
He further referred to the history of Islam in the Malay speaking areas in South East Asia, saying that the religion entered the region in the 13th century C.E.
Daneshgar highlighted Quran interpretation trend in the Malay speaking world, saying that it is primarily influenced by Sunni interpreters.
He added that Quran commentaries in this area have not been influenced by Shia exegeses, except for al-Misbah, which is a new interpretation and the author has made some references to the views of Allameh Tabatabei in Al-Mizan Quran Exegesis.
The international Quran exhibition regularly hosts scholarly forums on issues related to Quranic activities and sciences.
The exhibition was launched in the Iranian capital city on Wednesday, June 24.
The Quranic event is annually mounted by the ministry of culture and Islamic guidance.
It is organized during the blessed month of Ramadan with the aim of stimulating development and promotion in concepts of the Noble Quran.
The expo showcases the latest developments and achievements in Quranic sciences, activities and products.
